A fire in the 1000 block of Main Street in Winnipeg on Tuesday morning caused $100,000 in damage and was deliberately set, said officials.

Shortly after 11 a.m., northbound Main Street at Magnus Avenue was closed to traffic as crews responded to the blaze.

The fire appeared to be in an abandoned building that used to house a pizza restaurant.

Traffic was temporarily re-routed into southbound lanes while crews responded to the fire.

Crews quickly got the blaze under control.
