Police laid charges after someone made fake 911 reports of shootings at various locations around Winnipeg, including at two schools.

The first call came in on Oct. 20 around 9:30 a.m. Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Powers Street and Machray Avenue. Several units including the police helicopter responded but found no evidence of a shooting.

On Oct. 19, Winnipeg police responded to a report of a threat made at St. John’s High School. Officers responded to the scene in the 400 block of Church Avenue around 9:30 a.m.

The school was put into lockdown. Multiple units responded and searched the area but did not uncover anything, said police.

Later that day, a report came in about an impending shooting at a school in the 400 block of Andrews Street. Again, several units responded and no evidence of a shooting was found.

Police have charged a 25-year-old man with two counts of public mischief for his alleged involvement.
