A 38-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot near a home located in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.

On Monday around 11:30 a.m., Winnipeg police were called to the home regarding an injured man.

Police on scene said the man had sustained injuries consistent with being shot.

He was taken to hospital where he continues to remain in critical condition.

The man was found shot next to Raymond Garcia’s home on Pritchard Avenue.

"We're scared because a stray bullet might hit us,” He said.

Garcia explained that his block is usually pretty quiet and hopes it stays that way.

Const. Jason Michalyshen said police cannot confirm if the shootings on Donald Street and Stradbrook Avenue in East St. Paul Monday morning were connected to the Pritchard shooting.

“I’ll speak to the incident on Stradbrook, the individuals associated to that matter appear to have gang affiliations. However, the incident itself, I can’t confirm if it’s gang related or gang motivated,” Michalyshen said.

There are safety concerns about rising gun violence in and around Winnipeg after this shooting and two others in the span of three days.

The first one took place Saturday near Donald St. and Stradbrook Avenue and the second on Monday in East St. Paul.

Police said in total five people were shot.

“Anytime a fire arm is discharged in the city limits is a concern, a huge concern. However, these incidents appear to be targeted.”
