Some people like to change vehicles every few years. But for Reynald Gauthier, there is something very special about his GMC Sierra truck.

He even has a name for it: Bob.

"We complement one another when we're together.  Where I goes, he goes, and Bob doesn't stop till I do,” said Gauthier.

Bob hasn't stopped since Gauthier bought him in 1997 with just eight kilometres on the dial. Since then, the farm vehicle has been driven everywhere. Gauthier sells seeds to thousands of farms across Alberta, Saskatchewan and rural Manitoba.

Gauthier even drove Bob down to the United States to see Bob Barker on the Price is Right.

"Bob has seen Bob,” he laughed.

All those miles have added up. Bob has reached one million miles, or 1.6 million kilometres.

While the truck isn't the first to hit the million mile milestone, the achievement is very rare. Mechanic Colin Bulloch said it requires a loving touch to keep a vehicle on the road that long.

"Perform good maintenance on the vehicle, regular oil changes, and look after it basically,” said Bulloch.

While Gauthier doesn't think he'll get another million miles out of Bob, he still isn’t ready to end the ride anytime soon.
