WINNIPEG - Manitoba's two newest members of the legislature have been sworn in.

Progressive Conservatives Shannon Martin and Doyle Piwniuk easily won their seats in byelections held in January.

Longtime party member Martin won in Morris and financial planner Piwniuk was victorious in Arthur-Virden.

Tory leader Brian Pallister has put Martin to work on issues related to conservation and water stewardship.

Piwniuk has been named multiculturalism and literacy critic.

The byelection results did not affect the governing NDP's majority in the legislature.
