Officers ask for help identifying 'person of interest' in mailbox break-in case

Police called Thursday for the public’s help in identifying a "person of interest" after several mailboxes were broken into in downtown Winnipeg.

“In each incident, a male is able to gain access to the vestibule area where he proceeds to pry open the mailboxes and steal the mail from within. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $11,000,” said police.

Officers said the locations include:

• 400 block of Maryland Street
• 1st 100 block of Cornish Avenue
• 100 block of Young Street
• 100 block of Balmoral Street
• 300 block of Kennedy Street
• 400 block of Kennedy Street
• 1st 100 block of Carlton Street
• 100 block of Donald Street
• 100 block of Smith Street
• 200 block of Portage Avenue
• 300 block of Broadway

Anyone with details on the "person of interest" is asked to contact police.
