Russell RCMP is investigating after a man was killed in a rollover on a Manitoba highway.

The single vehicle crash happened around 9:50 p.m. Thursday on Highway 41, just south of St. Lazare.

The car was traveling north when it rolled off the road, causing the only passenger to eject.

The passenger, a 39-year-old man from Regina, Saskatchewan, was pronounced dead in hospital.

The driver, a 29-year-old man from Rocanville, Saskatchewan, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

"This may be yet another tragic reminder of the fatal consequences of driving while impaired" said Sgt. Bert Paquet of the Manitoba RCMP.

"The behaviours of some drivers on our roads need to change, to not only protect their lives but also the lives of so many that travel on Manitoba roadways."

RCMP continues its investigation.
