Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a suspect in the case of Lorie Maureen Bearbull who was fatally stabbed July 18.

On July 24, 20-year-old Naomi Ross was arrested and charged with second-degree murder due to her alleged involvement.

Police were called to the scene around 4:15 a.m. Paramedics were seen loading one woman into an ambulance.

The victim arrived at hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries sometime later.

Police identified the victim as Lorie Maureen Bearbull, 37. Bearbull lived in Winnipeg, but orriginally came from Birdtail Sioux First Nation Nation, north of Virden.

Cousin Samantha Benn told CTV Bearbull left the reserve in 2007.
