Nunavut RCMP said a bomb threat has closed schools in three regions of the territory just a day after a similar threat was made against Winnipeg schools.

Mounties said they received a threat at around 9 a.m. that bombs had been placed in schools across Nunavut.

They said the threat was similar to ones received in other parts of Canada and the United States which closed schools across the Maritimes.

A threat was also received by the Winnipeg School Division Wednesday, but no schools were evacuated.

The division provided a letter to students about the threat. A copy obtained by CTV News said it was received anonymously by fax from an out-of-country location. It was deemed a hoax by police at 10:30 a.m.

The RCMP said they don't believe this threat is credible either, and schools will reopen once they are confirmed to be safe.
