One man died following a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway Monday afternoon.

At 4:10 p.m., STARS air ambulance said it was dispatched to a serious collision involving an SUV and semi-transport truck at highway speeds.

The collision happened east of Carberry, at the intersection of PR 351 and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Motorists in the area told CTV the highway eastbound was closed at Sidney, Man. on Monday afternoon.

A STARS spokesman said the helicopter transported a patient to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

RCMP said the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
