RCMP said a 43-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were safely located after spending hours lost in the wilderness.

The two, who are from Winnipeg, were walking in the woods near Richer on Sunday when they became lost.

The man called 911 and the two waited for rescue.

Searchers found the pair around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

RCMP said they weren’t injured and have returned to their homes.

Police said that even on short trips, people should be prepared and have survival equipment with them.
