Winnipeg police have laid charges against a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy after a stabbing in the North End.

Emergency crews rushed to the 400 block of Alexander Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Friday to find a 16-year-old boy had been stabbed multiple times. He was rushed to hospital in unstable condition, police said.

A 15-year-old boy was also found with minor injuries after being assaulted.

Police said an investigation found two suspects approached the boys when a fight broke out and the suspects fled, running to a nearby area.

A short time later officers arrested two suspects.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated assault and a 16-year-old boy has been charged with assault.

Both teens remain in custody.

Police said the 16-year-old who was assaulted is now in stable condition.
