Winnipeg Transit said it might be able to ramp up service in December, after scaling back the busy fall schedule due to a shortage of buses.

Transit director Dave Wardrop said the city has a new repair partnership with Cummins, a bus engine company.

Currently, 94 buses are in the shop, including 44 of them off the road because of emissions issues with the Cummins engine.

Wardrop said, depending on how repairs proceed, Winnipeg Transit will know in a few weeks if service can be better restored in December.
