Two people were taken to hospital after a car crashed into a pedestrian bridge near the Disraeli Bridge on Saturday.

The car crashed into the staircase leading up to the pedestrian bridge. The passenger side of the car appeared wedged underneath the stair case, with the driver side wheels coming off the ground.

Paramedics rushed the elderly driver and passenger to hospital. Both are in stable condition.

Police could not provide any information about what caused the collision.

City crews are now determining the extent of the damage to the pedestrian bridge.
