Two people were taken to hospital when a car crashed through the front window of a West End restaurant. Up to 40 customers and staff were inside Myrna's Cafe on Sargent Avenue when the car hit.

"We just heard a like a bomb and saw a car drove through the window, and then it was just a big explosion inside - dust and tables and chairs,” said Sarah Delacruz, who was inside the restaurant at the time of the crash.

Witnesses say a man and woman were sent to hospital. The woman was just walking in and the man was facing the window at the time of the crash.

"I was in the small office I just heard this big noise,” said Elvira Latigar, co-owner of Myrna’s Cafe. “I thought there was a bomb in the kitchen, so when I went out and saw this car...I am shocked."

The 19-year-old male driver has been ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving.

The owners of the restaurant say they are worried about what this will mean for the business. They say it's their only source of income, but they do have insurance.
