A St. Boniface chocolatier with frozen pipes has vowed to stay open even though she can't make all her chocolates.

Customers have still been coming in to chocolatier Constance Popp to pick up chocolate and treats, but the owner says business can't continue like this. The kitchen is closed and the city hasn't told her when they will show up to thaw her pipes.

She says five days without water has been enough.

"Our cafe is not open,” said Constance Menzies. “Our bathrooms are unusable. We aren't able to make things we normally can make, but we can't continue, like, in the long haul."

She worries the ground could stay frozen until June. There are more than 1,300 properties in Winnipeg with frozen pipes.
