Eligible voters will be identified through enumeration starting Thursday and continuing until Mar. 7, for the election on April 19.

Under Manitoba’s Elections Act, the process of enumeration is used to assemble a voters list that is essential for administering the election.

Approximately 3,000 enumerators in the province will go door-to-door to collect names of eligible voters, which makes it easier to vote on Election Day.

Enumerators will be wearing yellow Elections Manitoba vests with photo ID badges that include their name, position and photo.

To be eligible to vote in Manitoba, residents must be Canadian citizens, be at least 18 years of age on, or before, Election Day, and have resided in Manitoba for at least six months prior to Election Day.

Enumerators will be requesting personal information that will be used on Election Day and will also be given to the candidates and registered political parties.

Voters’ date of birth and gender will also be requested to help create accurate and permanent voters list for Manitoba to be used for future elections. This information will be confidential and kept secure from candidates or registered parties. Voters do not have to provide this information.

Individuals will receive an enumeration record indicating where to vote on Election Day.

Enumerators will also be carrying applications for homebound voting.
