Extensive ground search conducted for missing Manitoba woman: RCMP

An extensive ground search was conducted over the weekend for a missing Manitoba woman who still hasn’t been found.
Ywanna (Jean) Backman, a 70-year-old woman from Piney, was last seen on Oct. 13. Police said it’s believed she last made contact with a friend on Oct. 15.
The search for Backman began on Oct. 19, when police were called to her home for a well-being check. Officers searched her property, but did not find her.
During the weekend of Oct. 20 to 23, a number of RCMP units along with the Office of the Fire Commissioner, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, and Winnipeg Search and Rescue conducted a ground search. However, Backman was not found.
Anyone with information on her location is asked to call the RCMP at 204-437-2041 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police continue to investigate.
