The families of three people killed in a car crash last year were in court on Tuesday to confront the man who was drunk and behind the wheel.

Clarke Gordon Harding, 32, pleaded guilty to charges of impaired driving causing death.

He was driving near Sanford in Jan. 2012, when he swerved into traffic killing 64-year-old Paul Kler.

Harding’s passengers, 20-year-old Ellory Kirkwood and 21-year-old Michelle Hastings, also died in the crash.

At his sentencing hearing all three families told the court how Harding’s actions had forever changed their lives.

The Crown has asked for a six year sentence while Harding’s lawyers have asked for three.

The judge in the case will deliver a sentence in November.
