Convicted Hells Angels member Ian Grant will remain behind bars.

The Manitoba Court of Appeal has rejected his bid to have his conviction tossed out.

Grant says his right to a fair trial was violated, claimed his 15-year sentence was excessive for the crimes he was convicted of.

The biker was found guilty in May 2007 of drug trafficking and extortion.

Police paid an agent more than half-a-million dollars to make drug deals on their behalf.

Grant was not an original target of the investigation dubbed "Project Defence" but he came onto their radar when he tried to collect a debt from the agent.

The appeals court ruled that his rights were not violated.
