Ice fishing season has come to an end earlier than normal this year.

Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship urged ice fishers to remove their shacks from lakes and rivers in southern Manitoba, as long as ice conditions remain safe to do so.

Warm weather is expected to continue, with increasing temperatures heading towards the weekend.

Ice conditions across much of southern Manitoba, from Lake of the Prairies to Dauphin Lake and as far east as Lake of the Woods, will deteriorate faster than normal this year, the province said in a news release.

The normal date for removing ice shacks is March 31.

Fishers with shacks in the following locations need to remove them by March 15:

- South of Riding Mountain National Park

- Lake of the Prairies

- Dauphin Lake

- Moose Lake

- Buffalo Bay in Lake of the Woods

All shacks must be off the Red River by March 13.
