The Winnipeg Police Green Team seized more than $2.5 million worth of marijuana in raids at two Winnipeg homes Wednesday night.

The homes housed multi-staged grow-ops.

Police executed a search warrant at a house in the 100 block of Monticello Road in Whyte Ridge at about 8:30 p.m.

They found 1748 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $1,957,760. There was also almost 10 kg of harvested bud worth almost $100,000.

Officers arrested one male and one female. They were released on a promise to appear.

A second raid was executed at about the same time in Grant Park.

Officer seized 545 marijuana plants worth an estimated $610,400 from a home in the 800 block of Montrose Street.

No arrests were reported in that raid. There is no word on whether the two raids are related.
