Missing and murdered men and women were remembered at a candlelight vigil in Winnipeg Thursday night.
The event was hosted by the Ndinawe Youth Resource Centre and Program Director Cheyenne Henry says it is important to include the next generation.
She says the organization put on the vigil "To honour the missing and murdered men and women, not just in Manitoba, but across Canada."
Henry added that families with missing loved ones need media attention or focus so that the missing person is not forgotten and remains on peoples minds in case they come across them.
Several families with missing loved ones were there including the family of 21-year-old Claudette Osborne.
"It's been really hard on our family; it's been eight months now. The police have no tips. Our life has been in limbo," says Osborne's Sister Bernadette Smith, as she fought back tears.
While Smith spoke, she held Claudette Osborne's two-year-old son.
"This little guy has a Tonka truck and has a picture of his mother in the truck, and he pushes it around and he talks to his mother," explained Smith.
She says Osborne's three-year-old daughter asks for her mother every day.
The family of Jennifer Catcheway also took part in the vigil.
The 18-year-old woman has not been seen since June of 2008.
The search also continues for 24-year-old Amber McFarland who was last seen in Portage la Prairie in October.
