Downtown Winnipeg residents can see paramedics on bicycles patrolling their neighbourhoods this summer.
The Paramedics Active in Community Education and Response (PACER) program aims to promote safe and active living during the summer months. Around 20 paramedics participate in the program.
The paramedics patrol parks, bike paths and public events around downtown, providing treatment and assessments to people who require medical attention.
“The PACER program is a great way for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service to be on the street serving Winnipeggers and educating the public on how to be active and safe during the hot summer months,” John Lane, Fire and Paramedic Chief, said in a news release.
