A 22-year-old woman is recovering in hospital, and a 25-year-old man faces numerous charges, after a crash on Pembina Highway early Saturday morning.

The two car collision happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the southbound lane of Pembina Highway near Bishop Grandin Boulevard.

Police say the first car was allegedly being driven recklessly down Pembina Highway, headed south, when it crashed into the second car.

The second car was turning south onto Pembina Highway.

Police say the driver of the first vehicle fled the scene of the crash.

The driver of the second car was a 22-year-old woman. She was taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Later Saturday morning police located the driver of the first vehicle and arrested him.

A 25-year-old man is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, refusing a breathalyzer, and leaving the scene of an accident.
