Suspect sought in brass knuckle beating

Police are looking for a suspect after someone was beaten with brass knuckles in Portage la Prairie.

RCMP say it happened Monday evening. The victim was taken to Portage General Hospital by family members. He has since been moved to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, where his injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Police have charged and obtained a warrant for the arrest of Lawrence Dolphus Catcheway, 26, of Portage la Prairie.

Catcheway is charged with:

• aggravated assault
• possess prohibited device
• possess prohibited device while prohibited from possessing any weapon
• breach probation.
