Three of Manitoba’s newest residents have a very unique birthday to celebrate.

According to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, baby girl Annika was born early Monday morning at the Health Sciences Centre, making her a Leap Day baby.

Annika is the first baby to a family from the RM of Piney. She weighed in at eight pounds and nine ounces (3.9 kilograms).

A set of twins born at the Women's Hospital will also share the Leap Day birthday.

Jessa and Jordan Chartrand were born to mother, Randi Chartrand.

Jessa is seven pounds and nine ounces, and Jordan is seven pounds and eight ounces (3.4 kilograms).

"They're big babies. I was surprised. They're three minutes apart," said grandmother Linda Chartrand.

Jessa and Jordan are the first twins born to the Chartrand family.

"It's a blessing. Especially twins, especially on leap year too. We look forward to many years of happiness with them," said grandfather Peter Chartrand.

As Feb. 29 only comes around every four years, Annika, Jessa and Jordan won’t get another chance to celebrate their birthdays until 2020.
