Winnipeg police have charged two men in connection to a homicide in the 100 block of Killarney Avenue Sunday night.

Police said they were alerted to the sounds of a possible assault around 10 p.m.

Officers arrived and found 29-year-old Mustafa Peyawary unresponsive and not breathing.

Police say Peyawary had signs of massive blunt force trauma to his body, and they believe he was assaulted over an extended period of time.

He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Two suspects were identified and taken into custody.

Damir Kulic, 27, of Vancouver and Ahamed Althaaf Ismail, 29, of Edmonton have been charged with first degree murder.

They remain in custody.

Police told CTV News that homicide detectives have not provided details on the relationship between the accused men and the victim.

Police have also not said when the accused men arrived in Winnipeg, or how long they were in the city.
