Two women are facing charges after they allegedly used a video with sexual content to extort money from a 29-year-old man.

Winnipeg police said the victim has been in an existing business relationship with the owner of a beauty spa in the 700 Block of St. Anne’s Road. Police said he recently visited the spa to speak with the owner and was offered a massage by an employee while he waited for the meeting.

During the massage, police said the man was sexually assaulted, and discovered he was being recorded with a cell phone.

"It doesn’t look like he was under the impression that he was getting anything other than a regular massage," Const. Rob Carver said.

Police said the victim was then extorted out of thousands of dollars with the threat that the video recording would be released. He then proceeded to contact police immediately after paying the money.

"It’s our understanding that there’s certainly a potential there are other victims. And if anyone feels that they have any connection to this type of event or this incident, we’d like them to come forward for sure," Carver added.

Pam Sandhu, 22, an employee of the spa is charged with extortion, voyeurism, sexual assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Simple Mehta, 39, the owner of the spa is charged with extortion, procuring and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

This incident is being investigated by the counter exploitation unit.
