Mayor Brian Bowman admits the public needs more information on how growth fees will impact new home buyers.
Bowman said the city's corporate communications department is set to better explain the new charges.
City council passed the new bylaw last week with a rough map and a provision that fees not be collected until May 1.
Bowman said the fees will be tied to when permits are finalized. He said the city is beefing up staff to deal with a potential influx of permit requests prior to May 1.
City councillor Janice Lukes, who's been at odds with Bowman over the growth fees process, is holding an open house of her own in February.
