A woman is in custody after numerous police officers were assaulted, including one off-duty cop, police said

Around 3 p.m. an off-duty officer was driving near Chief Peguis Trail Bridge and Main Street in his own car when he noticed a vehicle driving unsafely, police said. The car honked repeatedly at the off-duty cop and drove closely behind him.

The driver of the Mazda Protege then made gestures at the cop to pull over, police said. So the officer did.

The male cop then told the female driver of the car he was a police officer and when he was producing his identification to show the woman, she assaulted him, said police.

The officer then called for back-up, and when three more officers arrived, the woman assaulted them as well, police said.

Christine Scaife, 32, is now facing multiple charges including four counts of assaulting a police officer, impaired driving and possession of marijuana.

Scaife remains in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre, police said.
