A man faces attempted murder charges after a 24-year-old woman was shot with an air gun during a break-in on Christmas Eve.

Emergency crews responded to a call about a woman shot at a rooming house in the 600 block of Aberdeen Avenue around 8:30 p.m on Dec. 24.

They took her to hospital in critical condition, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body. She is now listed in stable condition, police said.

William Benjamin Dane Hunter-Garrioch, 18, faces numerous charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, breaking and entering, and discharging an air gun or pistol with intent.

Police say the suspect lived in the rooming house, but not in the same unit as the victim.
