Manitoba Hydro said as of 9 p.m. Thursday night, 9,000 people are still left without power after a severe storm rolled through the southern part of the province Wednesday night.

There are 34 crews currently assessing and restoring outages, Hydro explained. They said hospitals and care homes are being given top priority.

They indicated that they could be working to restore power until Friday.

Outages have been reported all over southwestern Manitoba.

Hydro requested people report specific locations and addresses when they call in power problems.

They said Wednesday evening more than 48,000 people were without power immediately after the storm, and 32,000 of those outages have now been restored.
