RCMP and Winnipeg police are advising the public about a high-risk sex-offender who will soon be released from a Manitoba jail.
William Rupert Astle is a convicted sex offender who police believe is at a high risk to commit more sexual assaults.
Astle has a history of sexual offences with children, and police said female children are at risk of sexual exploitation.
The 77-year-old inmate is expected to be released from Headingley Correctional Centre on Dec. 22. Astle has made plans to move to Winnipeg upon his release, police said.
Officers said vigilante action against Astle will not be tolerated.
Anyone with information about Astle is asked to call the Manitoba integrated high risk sex offender unit at 204-984-1888.
