The second phase of Rapid Transit is moving forward.

The city has hired Winnipeg firm Plenary Roads to construct the southwest transitway.

It has also put out a request for proposals to study a possible Rapid Transit corridor connecting east Winnipeg to downtown.

Construction on the phase two Rapid Transit project and the Pembina Highway underpass project will begin this summer.

It's expected to be completed in late 2019.

Following a period of testing and training, passengers will be able to hop onboard in April of 2020.
