If elected mayor, Gord Steeves says he would institute a hiring freeze and limit the amount of goods and services purchased by the City of Winnipeg annually.
At a press conference Monday morning, Steeves said the freeze would not apply to emergency services and says there would be no job losses as a result.
The candidate hopes to save $40 million dollars a year with both measures and he said the savings would be used to fix crumbling roads.
