Police continued their investigation of the crash on Portage Avenue that killed a 27-year-old woman early Monday morning.

Police say the man and woman are suspected of being involved in a string of robberies prior to the crash.

The man has been charged in four commercial robberies and a gas theft. The woman was allegedly involved in the last three incidents.

The robberies began on Nov. 22 at 2:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue. The second instance occurred at 5:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Keenleyside Avenue. A theft of gas happened around 11:55 p.m. that night in the 6600 block of Roblin Boulevard.

The woman joined the man for the theft of gas and the last two robberies. One occurred in the 500 block of Dale Boulevard at 12:25 a.m. and another robbery around 1:15 a.m. on Nov. 23.

Police identified the woman as 27-year-old Brandi Melissa Manningway of Winnipeg.

A 30-year-old man, Matthew Alexander Bartlett of Winnipeg, faces a string of charges for his alleged involvement including possession of a weapon, robbery with a weapon and breach of probation.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is continuing to investigate.
