Firefighters and RCMP responded to a blaze on Pipeline Road in West St. Paul Monday afternoon that tore through a garage and home.

Multiple fire volunteer crews and RCMP responded around 4:40 p.m. on March 9.

The West St. Paul Fire Department said a car caught fire in an attached garage.

"As far as what ignited the vehicle, that's still to be determined. But it started out as a vehicle fire in the attached garage. Carried over into the attic and caught the remainder of the structure," said Captain Ken Azaransky with the West St. Paul Fire Department.

One person was in the garage at the time, and was able to escape.

There were no injuries in the fire.

Firefighters said the home was fully engulfed when they arrived.

It took about 45 minutes to get it under control.

Three different volunteer fire departments worked for several hours on the house.

St. Andrews and Stony Mountain Fire Departments were called in to help the West St. Paul crew.

There's no damage estimate set yet.
