Cyclists in Winnipeg may soon have to have bells on their bikes.
Transcona Councillor Russ Wyatt is asking the city to study the idea of mandating bells on bicycles.
He said with all the bike paths being built in Winnipeg, it could improve safety between pedestrians and bike riders who share those corridors. Wyatt is also pushing for mandatory bike helmets for everyone.
Right now, they’re only required in Manitoba for riders under the age of 18.
The issue will be discussed at a committee meeting next week at City Hall.
