The number of homicides in Winnipeg this weekend climbed to three on Sunday after a man died after being stabbed at a home in the 300 block of Langside Street.

Neighbours told CTV Winnipeg the vicitm was a 68-year-old man who lived in the rooming house. Neighbours heard a commotion and called police to do a check of well-being.

"Some people were running out of the building and on the way out there was blood all over the door," said Claude, a neighbourh who did not want his last name used out of fear for his safety.

Claude said he went downstairs and found his neighbour in a pool of blood. He had been stabbed and was taken to hospital where he later died.

Claude said the deceased was quiet and mostly kept to himself except when it came to his passion for sports. "Big sports fan, went to the Bomber game on Thursday. He's at every Goldeyes game."

The Homicide Unit is investigating.
