Without a pile of presents under the Christmas tree, the pile of needles littering the floor becomes more apparent.
People can drop off their real Christmas trees for free at one of 11 Let's Chip Indepots around Winnipeg. The depots will remain in operation until Jan. 20.
Residents can also bring a container and pick up free wood chips at all depots starting in early January.
Real trees can also be dropped off at the Brady Road Landfill at 1901 Brady Rd. during regular operating hours.
Winnipeg residents recycled 12,841 trees last season, the city said in a news release.
