A Winnipeg homeowner with a large spruce tree on their property could be the supplier of the official city hall Christmas tree.

City officials put out a call to homeowners on Friday. The city had already considered several potential candidates but none met the criteria.

To be considered, a spruce tree must be located in the front yard of a property with direct access to the tree, 12 to 15 metres tall, and fully symmetrical with a single trunk and no brown needles.

There is no reward for supplying the tree but crews will remove it at no cost to the homeowner. Homeowners who would like to submit their tree for consideration should call 311or email 311@winnipeg.ca
