Low levels of Legionella bacteria have been discovered at Victoria General Hospital.
A Winnipeg Regional Health Authority spokesperson told CTV it was discovered in the water supply to the hospital's oncology clinic during regularly-scheduled water quality testing.
The bacteria can cause Legionnaires’ disease, which can be deadly.
But according to the spokesperson the level detected at the hospital does not pose a measurable risk to patient health and no cases of infection have been identified.
The hospital has taken steps to ensure the bacteria is no longer present and is continuing to do follow-up testing.
