Well-known Manitoba indigenous activist, Lisa Meeches, is on her way back to Winnipeg after recovering in a Calgary hospital from a stroke.

“Today is Mom's birthday and she is really excited about her present, a trip back to Winnipeg to keep on healing at home,” said Norman Earl-Soldier and Billy Meeches in post on their mother’s Facebook page Aug. 20.

In an earlier Facebook post dated Aug. 13, Meeches’ spouse, Dale Shirt, said “prayers for an amazing lady.” He added Meeches had suffered a stroke, and was dealing with further seizures from a brain bleed.

In the most recent Facebook post written by Meeches’ two sons, the men thanked everyone for the outpouring of support, and asked people to continue praying for their mother.
