Winnipeg police said no charges have been laid at this time for a crash Tuesday that sent two 11-year-old pedestrians to hospital.

Emergency crews and officers responded around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 to St. Anne’s Road and Bishop Grandin Boulevard.

The two 11-year-old girls had been trying to cross eastbound lanes of Bishop Grandin in a southbound direction when an eastbound van struck them, said police.

One of the girls is now in stable condition, while the second one remains in critical but stable condition, said officers Wednesday.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.

Police said the crash was “likely the result of pedestrian error.”

The central traffic unit continues to investigate.
