After receiving an order from the City of Winnipeg to paint their home or face a $1000 fine or jail time, dozens of Winnipeggers have offered to paint Rodney and Doris Pearson's home.

Rodney, 76, and Doris, 82, have lived in their home on Redwood Avenue for 45 years.

On Saturday, the couple were notified by registered mail they were in violation of the Neighbourhood Liveability Bylaw, which says exterior painted surfaces have to be maintained so that no more than 25 per cent is flaking off.

Since the first story aired on CTV Monday night, dozens of offers have come in to the Pearson's to get the house painted before the May 4, 2016 deadline.

Some offers have come from local paint companies who just stopped by the house to offer help, others have come over the phone from people from Saskatchewan and Kamloops, BC.

The Pearson's say they are overwhelmed by the response and say thank you to everyone who is offering time and supplies to paint the home.

Work is underway to get the house painted as soon as the weather permits.
