Officers raided a number of locations in and around Winnipeg on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation aimed at cocaine trafficking.

Members of the city's organized crime unit, street gang unit and tactical team worked with RCMP and Winkler police to target nine locations in and around Winnipeg.

Police carried out search warrants and hunted for high-level cocaine dealers.

About $500,000 in cash was seized, along with 20 pounds of hash, 15 pounds of marijuana, $40,000 of jewelry and a number of vehicles, said officers.

Raids were carried out at various locations, including on Templeton Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, Main Street and Strathcona Street.

Sources said gang members and drug dealers were arrested in the raids. One of the suspects arrested has some type of connection to the Rock Machine motorcycle gang, said sources.

Police, however, did not confirm that information on Wednesday.

Along with raiding locations in Winnipeg, police also executed search warrants in Langley, B.C. and in Montréal, Quebec as part of the investigations, said sources.

On Thursday, police said nine people had been charged with drug-related offences.

Police said those facing charges include:

• Cirilio Bautista Lopez, 41

• Kosmas Dritsas, 39

• Orazio Pasquale Sinisi, 35

• Sandy Sousa Sinisi, 35

• Claudia Margarita Milla-Hernandez, 39

• Ronald Jeffery King, 41

• George Dritsas, 65

A 20-year-old female and a 24-year old female also face charges.
