Soldiers from the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) made their way through Brandon on Monday as part of the Memorial Baton Relay.

The relay commemorates the PPCLI's 100 years of service to Canada.

Approximately 50 soldiers are running from Edmonton to Ottawa, visiting 24 locations across five provinces, retracing the symbolic route taken by the PPCLI Originals as they marshalled for service in 1914 on the eve of the First World War.

The soldiers are carrying a memorial baton containing the names of 1,866 PPCLI members who have fallen in active service for Canada over the last century.

The relay will make its way through Winnipeg between Aug. 28-30 and will conclude in Ottawa on Sept. 18.
