Portage RCMP have arrested four teens in connection to a break and enter and theft of firearms in the RM of Portage la Prairie on June 22.

RCMP said they seized video and photo surveillance of the four boys during the course of an investigation.

The suspects arrived to a home in a stolen vehicle from Winnipeg. They entered the residence and pried open a gun safe, taking five firearms.

RCMP said that Portage Police Dog Services assisted in the investigation and that photos of the suspects and their vehicle was sent to local police officers.

Police said the suspects were seen in a restaurant on Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage. They fled the scene on foot upon police arrival. Police said they were able to catch the suspects and took them into custody.

A 15-year-old from Brandon, a 14-year-old from Winnipeg, a 16-year-old from Portage and a 15-year-old from Winnipeg have been charged with break and enter and are set to appear in Portage Provincial Court on June 26, 2015.

RCMP said the investigation continues as the stolen guns have not yet been recovered.
