Officers said a warrant has been issued for a known gang member after he walked away from a half-way house in September.

Elphinstone RCMP in western Manitoba said Thomas Gordon Bear was released from a Saskatchewan prison in August 2011 where he had been serving a 45-month sentence.

He later walked away from his half-way house on Sept. 19 and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

RCMP said Bear is a known member of the Native Syndicate and is considered violent and dangerous. Police said he should not be approached.

Anyone with information on his location is asked to contact Elphinstone RCMP at (204) 625-2090, Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or their local police agency.

Bear has a number of tattoos, including the words "Native Syndicate" tattooed on his forearms.
